A tank's rear-mounted phone gets a very modern nuisance call
The Tank Museum turns a Cold War design detail into a spam-call sketch, with viewers recognizing a Jurassic Park III ringtone.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 177,927 views a day, 13 times a normal first day on this channel (14,096).
Did you know: Many cold war era tanks have phones at the back of them!
The caller wants WhatsApp. A museum staff member has crossed a tank-packed hangar and climbed onto an armored vehicle, only to hear an automated voice say: "Please add my number on WhatsApp."
The Tank Museum's staged comedy Short has drawn roughly 140,000 views in 15 hours, putting it on course for a first day more than twelve times its usual Shorts audience. Its title, "Did you know: Many cold war era tanks have phones at the back of them!", promises military trivia. The video delivers that through a distinctly civilian irritation.
Those exterior phones had a practical purpose: infantry outside a tank could speak directly to the crew inside. Here, the staff member opens the phone compartment and picks up the receiver beneath an on-screen caption framing the nuisance as a shared British experience.
Viewers are talking about the Jurassic Park III ringtone they recognize, making missed-call jokes about the Chieftain and comparing the message with unwanted calls of their own. The comments have already passed three times the museum's usual full-day total for a Short.
After hanging up, the staff member heads away, then climbs back to close and latch the phone box. Even a nuisance call doesn't excuse leaving the equipment unsecured.
