Pen art and Valor broaden Call of Duty's DMZ week

Mark Powell's Korea-inspired drawing joins a behind-the-scenes teaser for the Call of Duty Endowment's Valor Pack.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

A gameplay trailer supplied the spectacle, but a pen supplied the week's more unusual detour. Among Call of Duty's four new uploads, "Mark Powell puts pen to Peninsula, inspired by #MW4 in Korea" offered an art-focused companion to the Modern Warfare 4 campaign of promotional videos.

The enormous draw was "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 | DMZ Early Access Gameplay Trailer," which has reached nearly 38 million views. Its description sets out story missions, new threats and rewards ahead of DMZ early access on October 20. In the comments, players discuss wanting a standalone DMZ release, compare the climbing to Dying Light and nominate a particular shot for the game's cover art. There is more than a release-date countdown happening here: returning players are bringing their own wish lists.

"Coming Soon - Forged in Valor" adds another strand, previewing a behind-the-scenes story about the Call of Duty Endowment's Valor Pack, beginning October 17. These are official promotional uploads, with the pack teaser offering a different subject from the week's combat gameplay.

Across the channel, the week brought about 32 million views while subscribers held steady. League of Legends also had a substantial viewing week; Fortnite was quieter. Within Call of Duty's own catalog, the DMZ trailer remains the main attraction, while the older "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 | DMZ Dynamic Ops" explains squad objectives that change during deployment.

  • Early Campaign access is one thing, but never would have expected DMZ to come a few days before actual release... alright then 👍
