Pumpkin season adds a farm business to CNBC Make It's week

Kelly Schultz's Great Pumpkin Farm in New York earns its annual revenue during a seven-week opening season.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Kelly Schultz's business has a much shorter selling season than most: his Great Pumpkin Farm in Clarence, New York, opens from September into the end of October. CNBC Make It's newest profile visits the operation he bought in 1993 and opened three years later, a seasonal enterprise drawing more than 100,000 visitors each fall.

That farm visit rounds out three uploads with quite different approaches to finding customers. "Why Brands Are Getting So Weird Online" examines companies such as Duolingo and Good Girl Snacks adopting the memes, comment-section jokes and personalities of influencers. Mike Satterlee's CruiseCup profile, meanwhile, follows a physical product from a warehouse full of 3D printers toward stainless steel manufacturing and ambitions for big-box retail.

Satterlee supplied the week's most-watched new upload, reaching roughly 390,000 views. His double-can cooler reloads from the top or bottom, though some commenters want a clearer explanation of what it actually does. Others focus on the manufacturing: how a product can begin with 3D printing before requiring a different way to scale. The profile makes another distinction worth keeping: business revenue is not the same as the founder's paycheck. Satterlee says he isn't taking a formal salary.

Channel viewing is running well above its usual daily pace, while subscribers held steady over the week. Its weekly viewing was close to Humphrey Yang's; The Iced Coffee Hour had a substantially larger week.

CruiseCup currently draws the most daily views, but Whitney Anderson's Michigan church conversion remains busy too. Alongside the new pumpkin-farm arrival, it gives the channel two very different examples of putting an unusual property to work.

  • Very cool to see that you can bootstrap a product with pure 3d printing as the manufacturing process. Nice work by him
