MI5 boss SOUNDS ALARM on AI ‘SUPERCHARGING’ terror threats facing UK
Manchester Evening News published 15 videos across a week that stretched well beyond Greater Manchester, from Westminster exchanges to MI5's annual threat assessment.
In the security-service coverage, Sir Ken McCallum warns that AI could put dangerous knowledge within terrorists' reach if safeguards fail. Parliamentary uploads cover questions to Shabana Mahmood about extremism and Andy Burnham's rejection of a partnership with the Greens while their policy describing Zionism as racism remains in place.
The week's most watched upload, however, remains Miranda Pell's report identifying William Chapman as the man who died after entering a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park. It has reached about 84,000 views. Following the identification report we covered here, a separate upload brings his family's tribute, remembering him as bright, warm and engaging.
Both Chapman reports are among the channel's strongest sources of daily viewing, alongside Burnham's remarks about the Greens. Across the channel, daily views are running at more than twice their usual level, while the subscriber count is unchanged over the week.
Among nearby local-news channels, WKRN News 2 is also seeing substantially elevated daily viewing; CBS Pittsburgh and CBC British Columbia are below their usual pace. For MEN, the increased viewing accompanies a slate mixing short parliamentary excerpts with reporter-led explanations of developing stories.
