Another trash-talk Short landed. "He Gonna Cook You!" went up on Thursday, a day after "Pro vs Short Hooper," and passed 114,000 views in a little over a day. A MarTHREEnez Short usually opens with about a tenth of that.
The title is the warning thrown at him before the run. In court slang, to cook someone is to beat them off the dribble again and again, and some viewers tease that the other side was doing the cooking early on.
The comments came in more than twice as fast as on a usual first day, and they keep circling one call. A double carry was whistled on one of his drives. Many viewers insist the dribbles were clean, while a few split the difference and say it was one carry, not two. The most liked comment hands the credit to a teammate known as 40 for the pass that set up that drive. Others want to know how a line beginning "besides my micro" was supposed to end, and someone spotted matching pink sneakers.
MarTHREEnez films pickup runs and one-on-ones around Palm Coast and Flagler County, Florida, under the motto "Eat, Sleep, Lift, Ball." The pace has not slowed. Earlier in the week a challenger drove nine hours for a 1v1, and on Friday two more Shorts arrived, one asking for the best teenager in Palm Coast and one simply titled "HE SAID WHAT!?" The channel picked up about 3,000 subscribers over the week.
