Tom Llamas opens with news of a departure, then turns to footage of a president who had publicly suggested his press secretary reconsider the job. NBC's special report on Katie Zacharia's exit follows that unusually short White House tenure from several angles.

Posted by NBC10 Philadelphia, the report drew roughly 32,000 views in nine hours, already far beyond the station's usual first-day audience for regular videos.

In the South Lawn footage, Donald Trump describes discussing the difficulty of the role with Zacharia. "She said this is a lot tougher. I said, welcome to the world of Trump," he tells reporters.

Gabe Gutierrez then reports that multiple sources confirmed her departure, following scrutiny of her credentials and whether she had passed the bar exam. NBC's description says she had represented herself as a lawyer despite not passing it.

The report goes beyond that announcement. Yamiche Alcindor examines Zacharia's contentious exchange with Sean Hannity on Fox News and its effect on the administration's perception of her. Kristen Welker closes the analysis by considering the departure against the approaching midterm elections and foreign policy challenges.
