Why this story? The whole channel is running at 200,496 views a day, 21 times a normal day (9,593).
This Wild Life has moved from hinting at sad country songs to naming one: "Hello Rock Bottom." The duo's October 12 upload, titled "Song: Hello Rock Bottom #countrymusic," gives a more concrete introduction to the music teased through references to Keith Whitley, Midland and songs to drink to.
Alongside that comes an unusually busy day for the channel: roughly 200,000 views, more than twenty times its typical daily pace. The new uploads themselves have modest totals, so the jump cannot simply be credited to the "Hello Rock Bottom" post.
For Kevin Jordan and Anthony Del Grosso, known for This Wild Life's acoustic approach to emo, the country signposts offer an interesting change of vocabulary. Heartache, at least, is familiar territory.
The duo also posted "Excited for all the upcoming music we have brewing!!" earlier in October. "Hello Rock Bottom" supplies a song name to go with that promise, while the latest upload, "If you know you know," keeps its meaning to itself.
