Usher and Chris Brown concert at M&T Bank Stadium canceled
A concert cancellation drew WJZ's largest new audience amid a week of local reporting that ranged from community service to grief. The Baltimore station posted fifteen videos, with "Usher and Chris Brown concert at M&T Bank Stadium canceled" reaching about 24,000 views in its first day.
The report concerns a venue familiar to football viewers as the Baltimore Ravens' home stadium. It is also WJZ's strongest daily draw right now. The announcement establishes the cancellation, but offers no explanation for it.
Elsewhere, WJZ reported on loved ones mourning teenagers killed in Friday night's West Baltimore mass shooting. Police were searching for suspects and had not announced an arrest. Maryland's changing weather also filled the upload shelf, from Cutter Martin's comfortable Saturday evening forecast to warnings of a wet, stormy Sunday.
Across its library, WJZ added roughly 817,000 views over the week and gained subscribers. Its current daily viewing is more than three times its usual pace, though several nearby local-news channels, including CBS Pittsburgh and CHCH News, had larger weekly viewing totals.
Annual Coat Day supplies a different kind of local story. The Iota Lambda Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha and the Kappa Phi Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha teamed up to host the event. Their report is now drawing daily views at a similar pace to the station's mass-shooting follow-up, giving community service a substantial place on WJZ's viewing shelf.
