Ali G: Who Iz I? | Official Trailer 2
Borat has seen the film. In the second trailer for Ali G: Who Iz I?, he delivers a "special announcement" from the Kazakhstan Ministry of Information, warning the world about Sacha Baron Cohen's new movie. "There have been reportings that this film is racist," he says. "We have seen it, and sadly, it is not."
He then exposes the plot as he sees it. According to Borat, Cohen spent two years moving through American society in three disguises. The first is Ali G, chatting with an academic about his headwear. The second is liberal activist Dr. Nira Cain-N'Degeocello, telling a community gathering that Ali G must be stopped as a cultural appropriator. The third is Colonel Erran Morad, the Israeli counter-terrorism instructor, lecturing a gym full of men. Both Nira and Erran first appeared in Cohen's 2018 series Who Is America? The trailer closes with Kazakhstan banning the film from both of its cinemas, and a title card that reads "DO NOT SEE OCTOBER 23rd."
The description gives Ali G the right of reply, mocking Borat's mustache and reminding him who put him on television in the first place. It also sets out the story: after twenty idle years, Ali G learns his girlfriend Julie is eight months pregnant and heads to America to reclaim his former glory. The film is billed as Cohen's directorial debut, in theaters for one weekend from October 23.
The trailer drew about 150,000 views in its first 15 hours, and the comments arrived by the hundreds where a usual short video on the channel gets a couple. The on-screen gag about a "K.D. LANG" language department is the line viewers quote most, and several Kazakh cinema owners have suddenly turned up to confirm the ban.
