Nate Eaton and courthouse correspondent Grace Wong put the defense's challenges to the investigation at the center of their latest Courtroom Insider. The prosecution has finished presenting its case in the trial over the 2012 killing of UNC student Faith Hedgepeth, but not before questions about evidence brought corrections in court.

One concerned an image found on the defendant's computer that had been presented as a sample of his handwriting. Wong explains that it was an internet meme, not a note he had written. The exhibit was withdrawn, and the broadcast later shows the defense questioning lead investigator Justin Heinrich about its origins.

The judge also instructed jurors to disregard portions of Heinrich's opinion testimony concerning sexual assault. Those rulings did not end the case: after the state rested, the defense sought dismissal for insufficient evidence, and the judge denied the motion. The defendant has pleaded not guilty.

The episode drew roughly 115,000 views in its first day, about thirteen times the usual opening audience for the channel's regular videos. It follows the earlier witness-by-witness coverage we reported here, with the proceedings reaching the transition from the prosecution's evidence to the defense's case.

Eaton pairs Wong's courthouse account with extended courtroom footage, letting viewers hear the objections, the investigator's answers and the judge's rulings rather than relying on the recap alone.
