Lionsgate adds Pandorum to a Hunger Games-filled movie shelf

The full 2009 sci-fi horror film joins New York cast-event clips for Sunrise on the Reaping.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

The spaceship crew wakes up. Everyone else is missing, but they may not be alone: Lionsgate Movies has added the full Pandorum to its channel, with Dennis Quaid, Ben Foster and Antje Traue among the cast. It is a feature-length change of gear from the Hunger Games promotion filling much of the week's upload shelf.

Across thirteen new uploads, the biggest audience went to the New York thank-you video for Sunrise on the Reaping, which reached roughly 59,000 views. The comments linger on the cast joking with one another's names and Mckenna Grace attempting Joseph Zada's Australian accent. Another upload thanks viewers for painting their own posters, keeping the campaign close to the people making things around the movie.

The film itself follows Zada's young Haymitch Abernathy into the Second Quarter Quell, with Grace as fellow tribute Maysilee Donner and Ralph Fiennes as President Snow. Francis Lawrence directs this return to Panem, set before Katniss' story.

For immediate viewing momentum, though, the full movies are busiest. Pandorum currently brings in the most daily views of any upload on the channel, followed by the father-son road trip The Open Road, starring Justin Timberlake and Jeff Bridges, and supernatural horror The Vatican Tapes.

Lionsgate added about 7.4 million views over the week while its subscriber count stayed unchanged. Its daily viewing is below its usual level; nearby studio channel Warner Bros. Classics had a particularly busy week. Lionsgate's own shelf offers a useful contrast: anticipation for a November arena spectacle, alongside older films ready to play in full.
