Who is Adam Clay up against this time? His own kind. In the first teaser for The Beekeeper 2, Jeremy Irons' Wallace Westwyck reminds Jason Statham's hero that he was "the most dangerous operative they've ever created," then delivers the bad news: the Beekeepers have gone rogue, they want control of the government, and Clay is the only one who can stop them.

The 2024 original, directed by David Ayer, sent Clay after a phishing operation that had targeted a kind neighbor. The sequel aims higher, with nighttime shots of Washington and a candlelit beekeeper emblem suggesting the trouble now starts inside the organization that trained him.

Clay agrees to the job on one condition: they do it his way. Westwyck's answer is a gift. "I got you a car. 1969 Dodge Super Bee. Fully loaded with stingers." The bee joke turns out to have mounted turrets, which Clay puts to use on a heavily guarded compound. A later ambush with a flamethrower ends with Clay on top and a parting line: "Next time, don't be so hot-headed."

The teaser passed four million views in its first 13 hours, an opening far beyond what the studio's short uploads usually manage, and the comment section filled up at a pace the channel rarely sees. Viewers are mostly talking about Statham himself: the idea that he plays the same man in every film and they will keep buying tickets anyway, that his name should be a movie genre, that he could go on doing this into his nineties.

The closing card sets the release for January 15, in theaters and premium formats.
