Marvel's VisionQuest week makes room for Wolverine's motion-capture tricks

Liam McIntyre and Insomniac's developers explain motorcycle rigs and pretend whiskey alongside Marvel's run of VisionQuest clips.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

A simulated motorcycle and a pretend drink of whiskey offer a different kind of Marvel spectacle: the studio work behind Wolverine's movements. In "Marvel's Wolverine Motion-Capture | Behind the Scenes Video Game Featurette," actor Liam McIntyre joins Insomniac Games' developers to explain how they brought the character into the game.

That workshop detour was part of a busy run of uploads, though VisionQuest supplied the week's biggest audience. "Vision's MCU History (summarized by Vision) | VisionQuest Episode 1 Clip" has passed three million views and is also the channel's fastest-moving video right now. The promotional recap lets Vision recount his own complicated history, from Ultron's creation to Wanda's Westview and his rebuilt white body, before arriving at the problem of having the same body but a different mind.

The comments find something more interesting than a continuity checklist. Viewers are discussing the distance between remembering a life and feeling connected to it, while others appreciate having the catch-up folded into the show itself.

Elsewhere, "Monsters of the MCU | Compilation" collected nearly 600,000 views, with a Dormammu reference in its description offering a familiar wink to Doctor Strange viewers. Another VisionQuest scene, "Losing My Mind: Official Clip | VisionQuest | Stream Now on Disney+," added to the series-heavy slate.

Marvel gained about 100,000 subscribers over the week, even as its current daily viewing sits below its usual pace. Among nearby studio channels, Universal Pictures is drawing more daily views than usual, while Warner Bros. is quieter. On Marvel's own channel, the strongest momentum belongs to Vision's very personal recap, rather than a giant ensemble trailer.

What viewers say

  • The fact that Vision remembers being Vision but doesn’t feel like Vision anymore… is one of the saddest and most interesting things Marvel has done with the character.

  • What’s incredible about Vision is that he was never truly human, yet somehow he ended up understanding humanity better than many who actually were.

  • Great job, Marvel! You did my homework before I watched Vision Quest.

That's the way to do it with all your series!
