Marvel's "Earth's Mightiest Survivors" put Miracleman beside Daredevil
Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto, the team behind a celebrated Daredevil run, launch a new Avengers comic set after Armageddon.

Avengers #1 | Official Trailer | Marvel Comics
Some viewers saw the word Avengers on a fresh Marvel trailer and thought, briefly, that Doomsday had arrived. It hadn't. This one is for the comic shops: a motion-comic trailer for Avengers #1, a new series from Marvel Comics that goes on sale November 4.
A comic trailer usually lives in the shadow of the films on this channel. This one has drawn about 450,000 views in 14 hours, against the roughly 45,000 a Marvel Short tends to collect in a full first day. The comments arrived even faster than the views, at more than seven times the usual first-day pace.
There is no dialogue, only music and panel art. White captions carry the story: "In the wake of Armageddon," then "there comes a day," then "when the devil collects his due." Then the roster appears one name at a time: Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, Daredevil, Wolverine, Luke Cage "and Miracleman." The heroes fight golden-masked winged figures and, at times, each other. The description sets out the premise: the world has turned against its greatest heroes, but Earth still needs avenging.
Much of the attention in the comments goes to the creative team. Writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Marco Checchetto made their names together on Daredevil, the run that began in 2019, and several viewers are glad to see Matt Murdock follow them into a bigger book. Others notice an older echo. Spider-Man, Wolverine and Luke Cage were all in Brian Michael Bendis's New Avengers in the mid-2000s, and some call this lineup a reunion of that team with two new members. A few read the trailer's devil line as a pointer to Mephisto, Spider-Man's longtime tormentor.
Miracleman is the most unusual name on the list. He began as Britain's Marvelman in the 1950s and spent decades tangled in rights disputes before landing at Marvel, so seeing him on an Avengers roster is still a novelty.
The trailer also outpaced a more cinematic upload posted the same day, in which Anthony Russo walks through Avengers: Endgame scenes from Black Widow's sacrifice to "I am Iron Man."
