The missing items read more like a banquet order than a police report: nearly two hundred lobster tails and well over a hundred pounds of pork belly, gone from the kitchen and storage areas of the Biltmore in Coral Gables. Police say a former worker took food worth about $7,800. According to the video's description, which cites jail records, he was arrested Monday on a charge of first-degree grand theft.

The description says the hotel's director of security and its head chef went to police after noticing that food kept disappearing. Surveillance footage, the arrest report says, showed the worker arriving before his scheduled hours and going into the areas where the missing food was kept.

The setting is part of the story. The Biltmore opened in 1926 and is a National Historic Landmark, one of the best-known buildings in South Florida, so a case about its kitchen reaches people who would skip an ordinary shoplifting report.
