How do you make a miniature puppet seem to breathe? In Rotten Tomatoes Trailers' most-watched new upload of the week, LAIKA's head of animation Brad Schiff shows how mechanisms inside the skeletons help give Wildwood's characters that small, lifelike movement.

"Wildwood Featurette - Magic in Every Frame (2026)" is a promotional look behind the stop-motion fantasy, not a film made by the trailer channel. Director Travis Knight and the crew move from handcrafted Portland streets and forest landscapes to the mechanics of emotional performances. More than 142,000 replacement faces were printed, while costume designer Deborah Cook explains how fabrics were engineered to drape at miniature scale. Peyton Elizabeth Lee, who voices Prue, recalls seeing the artists at work during a studio visit.

The comments linger on that craftsmanship: viewers discuss the puppet mechanisms, imagine the sets becoming museum exhibits and recall LAIKA's Kubo and the Two Strings. The featurette's appeal lies in seeing how much physical work sits behind a fleeting expression.

There was plenty else on the channel's busy release shelf. "Above the Below Trailer #1 (2026)" puts Idris Elba, Caitlin FitzGerald and Hero Fiennes Tiffin in a spacecraft stranded underwater. Nicolas Cage and Justin Long feature in the diner-set crime thriller "Best Pancakes in the County Exclusive Trailer (2026)." Among uploads drawing the most views per day right now, the Bunker teaser sits alongside Wildwood and The Last Temptation of Becky's latest trailer.

Across the channel, weekly views reached roughly 9.7 million, with daily viewing now about twice its usual level and subscribers unchanged. Universal Pictures and OSR Digital also have elevated daily viewing, while Disney is running below its usual pace. For Rotten Tomatoes Trailers, the week's standout new upload offers something trailers rarely have room for: the tiny engineering decisions that make a fantasy feel alive.

  • The biggest stamp of quality for a truly great animated film or series is when the visual language, the characters, and overall storytelling are so good, you actually forget that you’re watching animation.
